The mission of Keystone's transitional residential services is to assist persons with psychiatric disabilities to select, obtain, and maintain the community living environments of their choice, with success and satisfaction, and with as much independence as is personally possible. The goal of the program is to assist the clients in the development of independent living skills and natural community supports at both the Group Home and Halfway House to facilitate the residents' transition to a more permanent environment in the community. Value is placed on the resident's personal preferences for selecting the future living environments of their choice. This selection process allows the clients some personal satisfaction when they can choose their own living environment. In order to ensure that this happens, the following steps need to be taken:
Maintenance of psychiatric stability is a key factor within the Transitional Living Services. Keystone staff maintain a close working relationship with clinical service providers as well as other medical and ancillary providers. The length of stay will vary depending on individual needs and circumstances. Both Keystone's Group Home and Halfway House provide on-site supervision, 24-hours a day, seven days per week and are licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health. They are funded by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, client residential service fees, and private donations. The Halfway House is also supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Keystone's Group Home provides services to 8 clients and our Halfway House serves 12 clients.
