The mission of Keystone's Community Living Center (CLC) is to assist individuals with psychiatric disabilities to constructively structure their time by accessing recreational, volunteer, and pre-vocational opportunities. The goal is to assist clients to become successful and satisfied with as little professional support and as much natural support as is individually possible. All of Keystone's programs emphasize use of "natural' community supports, such as family, friends, churches, and other local community resources. Thus, in addition to offering a myriad of group activities, including educational, skill teaching, peer support, and recreational programs at the Community Living Center. Also, regularly scheduled activities at the YMCA, museums and local recreational facilities are enjoyed by program participants. In addition to gaining a sense of belonging and acceptance, participants are able to assess their own interests and values to set meaningful goals for their future. Program staff provide ongoing supports to assist clients in meeting their individual goals. Program services may also include outreach, liaison with other service providers, and symptom monitoring. Lunch and coffee/snacks are available daily, as is friendly conversation and congeniality. Since work is often a valued personal and community activity, pre-vocational pursuits are encouraged in two ways, through volunteering and paid employment in Keystone's client-run businesses. At any time, about half of the Community Living Center's participants volunteer in local non-profits. The Community Living Center program operates Monday through Saturday with a varying schedule of on and off site activities. Keystone's psychosocial services are funded by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, private contributions and the Norwalk/Wilton United Way. No fee is charged for attendance, although a small fee is charged for lunch. For more Information please call (203) 855-7920.
